Early Day Motions

Early Day Motions (EDMs) are like parliamentary petitions. They do not change the law but they are an important way for MPs to raise awareness of issues they think are important.

Support for disabled people in employment (EDM 676)

The MS Society believes that retaining employment can be a key factor in people with MS maintaining their independence and financial security. This EDM proposes additional rights for disabled people in employment.

Childhood multiple sclerosis (EDM 342)

The MS Society is leading work to improve understanding and awareness of childhood MS. We want to improve services available to children and their families affected by the condition. After our conference on childhood MS in November 2007, James Gray MP tabled an EDM to raise awareness in parliament. He is the chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group for MS.

Multiple Sclerosis Nurses (EDM 341)

Access to MS specialist nurses is an ongoing MS Society campaign. James Gray MP has retabled an EDM for MPs to show how much they value the work that MS specialist nurses do. Even if you know your MP has signed an earlier version, it is worth checking if they have signed again. We need to keep this issue high on the parliamentary agenda!

Multiple Sclerosis National Therapy Centres (EDM 340)

Local MS Therapy Centres are a very important resource to some people with MS and provide a range of services to them. This EDM expresses concern from MPs about the level of fees local therapy centres have to pay the Healthcare Commission for their inspections.
