Making a will

Making or changing your will is far simpler than many people think.

Where to begin

Before you even start to make or change your will it is important to know how much you have to leave. Often people have more to leave than they think so start making a list of all your assets - house, car, personal possessions, insurance policies and so on.

How to leave the MS Society a gift

If you would like to help people with multiple sclerosis by leaving a gift to the MS Society in your will there are three ways to do this:

  • Leaving a share of your estate to the MS Society
  • Leaving a fixed sum of money
  • Leaving a specific item of value

Will your gift affect your tax position?

If your money and possessions are worth more than a certain amount, your estate may be liable to inheritance tax. A gift to a registered charity like the MS Society is exempt from Inheritance Tax, so you could be supporting people with MS with money that would otherwise be taken in tax.
