I am a wheelchir user and swim twice a week and only use back stroke. Recently after 15 minutes or so my legs go numb. If I stop and return to vertical or sit in the hoist the numb feeling  goes.

My question: is this PPMS related or 'normal' and should I worry about it?

Hi, I am also a full time wheelie. I used to swim well but now my legs do nothing in or out of the water.

I`ve stopped going as i keep rolling over and swallowing gallons of water. It`s frightening.

Dunno why your legs go numb in water...could be PPMS....when do you see your neuro next?

Hi Alex,

I would have thought it was normal for ppms whatever normal is that is. I am not a swimmer but hope that you can still keep going with the swimming as it must be a valuable form of exercise for you. It is a weird thing this ms and I have given up working out what's normal or not, there seem to be so many symptoms to be dealing with. If you are concerned a chat with your ms nurse or neuro would put your mind at rest.

Take care,

Sarahx
