Hi I take a few vitamins and supplements, I take ; 1000mg Codliver oil capsule

                                                                                     100mg Co Q10

                                                                                     25mcg Vit D3

                                                                                     1000mg Calcium

                                                                                      500mg Magnesium

I've just started taking Co Q10 after reading about how it is used by the brain cells, to keep them healthy and keeps us more alert.  I feel well, but I don't have relapses I'm PPMS. Hope you soon start to feel better.

I take 5000iu of Vitamin D3 every day and 600mg of Alpha Lipoic Acid as well.   I ran out of alpha lipoic a few weeks ago and stopped taking it and I noticed my pins and needles was much worse, went back on it and seems to have made a difference.

The Lipoic Acid sounds good!  Looked it up says it may help protect brain and nerve tissue... I may get some and add it to my list...

hcd... Colostrum drink sounds interesting...

I tried Cod Liver Oil capsules for a while, but I didn't like burping up the horrible taste all day.  I also tried garlic capsules, they are supposed to have no anti-social after effects.  Not for me, phew!  I just take a multivitamin once a day.

Do you find the baclofen makes you tired?

Bill.

Ah yes, the Sunday pill box routine, I know it well.

At the moment I just take folic acid and vitamin D.

I have experimented with mega doses of b12, multivitamins, cod liver oil, omega 3 fish oil, evening primrose. They didn't seem to make any difference. I also took calcium with D when I was taking steroids- to protect my bones.

The folic acid is the only one that seemed to help- after taking it a couple of weeks I noticed an improvement in fatigue. Might be a coincidence, as I was tested and wasn't deficient, but I have been assured it can't harm me, if I don't need it I'll wee it out!

Seems the sunday pill box routine is common then.

I take = Vitamin D3 - 10,000 IU (Health Origins)

               Omega Oils 3, 6 and 9 - (Boots

Berocca efervecent multi vitamin and mineral

               Boots A - Z mult vitamin

Vitamin A -10,000 IU (Now Foods), - I take this for dry skin but it is made from Fish oils so cant' be bad.

I really don't know of taking these makes a difference but at least it is something I can do and gives me an element of control.  Was anyone ever told what they should be taking.  This lot is just guess work but  Alpha Lipoic Acid looks interesting.  I well seek that out and give it a go too.    Why are we not given this stuff on prescription?  We are spending a fortune.  I asked my GP about vitamin D suplements a few year ago and they only prescibe that if you have a deficiency.

Interesting to see a few trying the alpha lipoic acid.

I'm one of them.

I take:

Alpha liopic acid + acetyl-L-carnitine (combined pill)

Vitamin D

Cod liver & evening primrose oil, mixed (combined pill)

Vitamin B complex

Calcium & Magnesium "bone care" pills

Skin & hair capsules (nothing to do with MS, but does contain additional amounts of some of the other stuff already noted - e.g.  the oils & vitamin D).

I've occasionally taken Gingko and CQ10, but couldn't notice any benefit from either of those (not that I'd swear there is from any of the others), so I didn't persevere with them long term.

Apart from the Vitamin D, I sometimes wonder if I'm wasting my money.  But as I've been doing quite well, and not had a relapse in some time, I'm reluctant to change anything, in case something in my cocktail is doing the trick.  It does get pricey taking all this stuff, all the time, though.

The only thing I take is echinachea when I have a cold, I bought some vitamin D tablets but decided I take enough pills without them! so they're still sitting on the shelf :) and am making the most of the news that blue top milk is a source of vit D lol

Hope it works for you though.

I have heard that echinacea is contraindicated with MS because it works by boosting the immune sytem and our immune sytems are in overdrive ayway.

And if you are on any of the DMDs, echinacea is possibly a no no as it may interfere with the immune altering properites of the drugs.

I'd double check with your Dr before continuing with it.

Snap re the echinacea!

I'd never thought about the possibility of it interfering with DMDs, but I'm not on them anyway.

But since diagnosis, I've always avoided echinacea, or anything reputedly "immune boosting".  I don't know if the claims made for such supplements are even true.  But I don't think I want my immune system to be any more fired-up than it already is, so I don't take the chance.  Ginseng is another one I won't take (distinct from gingko, which may be of some benefit, and I don't think is an immune booster).

I don't think you need to worry too much about 'immune boosters' and DMDs- I asked about the evening primrose oil which had that on the packet, as I take azathioprine to suppress my immune system- the pharmacist said any effect from the supplement will be small and not enough to cancel the therapeutic effect of the drug.

I take (a day):

D3: 5000iu alternating with 10,000iu (my levels were still a bit low on only 5000iu)

B12: 100mcg (no idea why really; seemed sensible given that it supports cell repair?!)

Omega 3: 2000mg

Calcium (with boron and magnesium I think?): 2000mg (I'm prone to low calcium levels and there is osteoporosis in the family)

B2: 400mg (migraine preventative - and it's working! YAY!!!)
