Key priorities for implementation

The Guideline identifies six key priorities for implementation

The NICE Guideline

The National Institute for Clinical Excellence Guideline on the management of MS provides clear, evidence-based recommendations on managing all aspects of MS, and offers a blueprint for service providers and commissioners on the best way to organise complex services.

The scope for the Guideline was developed by the National Collaborating Centre for Chronic Conditions, with input from a wide range of stakeholders. The Guideline considers the full range of care that should be routinely available from the NHS, from the diagnostic process through all aspects of rehabilitative, pharmacological and psychosocial treatment.

The Guideline was developed for the NHS and while it comments upon the interface with other sectors, such as social services and the voluntary sector, it does not consider them in detail.

A version of the Guideline aimed at the public gives people affected by MS a clearer idea of what to expect from healthcare services. Download 'Multiple Sclerosis: Information for the Public'.

The Measuring Success Toolkit will help professionals implement the Guideline's recommendations.
