Gaining PP Status

Service providers can contact the MS Society directly to join the scheme. Arrangements will then be made for an evaluation team to visit and assess the service against the Preferred Provider standards. More detail is available in the downloads below.

Part of the assessment will include consideration of satisfaction surveys and interviews of the service users as well as the views of local branches.

On completion of the evaluation, the team will make one of the following decisions:

• Preferred Provider status should be granted.


• Preferred provider status will be granted on the basis that certain conditions are met.


• Support is needed to assist the service in agreeing and implementing a development plan to achieve standards not yet met.


• It is not appropriate to consider the service for Preferred Provider status.

There will be an annual award ceremony for services that are granted Preferred Provider status in May each year.
