Respite Care: Preferred Provider Scheme
Preferred Provider status is a prestigious award given by the MS Society to external care homes that are able to demonstrate their ability to provide high quality respite care services to people with MS.
Benefits for Preferred Providers include:

Gaining PP Status
Service providers can contact the MS Society directly to join the scheme. Arrangements will then be made for an evaluation team to visit and assess the service against the Preferred Provider standards. More detail is available in the downloads below.
Part of the assessment will include consideration of satisfaction surveys and interviews of the service users as well as the views of local branches.
On completion of the evaluation, the team will make one of the following decisions:
- Significantly subsidised specialist training on MS
- Features in MS Society publications; Team Spirit, Regional Newsletter/s and MS Matters
- Networking
- Free membership of the MS Society
- Highlight on the MS Society web site
- Eligibility to market the service as an MS Society Preferred Provider for Respite Care
- Acknowledgement from local branches

- Preferred provider status will be granted on the basis that certain conditions are met.
- Support is needed to assist the service in agreeing and implementing a development plan to achieve standards not yet met.
- It is not appropriate to consider the service for Preferred Provider status.
