Wheel & Walk
Wheel & Walk is the MS Society’s fully accessible fundraising event. In 2008, for the first time, it’s relocating to the urban setting of Manchester.
Wheel & Walk Manchester took place on the morning of Sunday 30 March. 153 participants completed the 6km route around the city centre despite the clocks having gone forward the night before and were rewarded with lovely weather.
Starting and finishing at Manchester Central, where MS Life was taking place, the route took participants around Manchester city centre and passed Albert Square, Manchester Cathedral, the Urbis Centre and many more sights. Wheel & Walk included an appearance from former professional footballer Danny Wallace, who started the event, while MS Society Chairman, Tony Kennan, welcomed the participants.
The 153 participants included an incredible 25 from the Wirral branch who turned up in fancy dress including 2 gorillas, Friar Tuck and Cruella de Vil! Top fundraisers Andrew, Joanna, Max and Will Espley won a trip to the Coronation Street set and had photographs taken in front of the Rovers Return.
The next Wheel & Walk event will be taking place at Windsor Great Park on Sunday 13 July. For more information, please call the events team on 0870 241 3565 or look at our website, www.mssociety.org.uk/wheelandwalk
