What we do

Established in 1971 our Branch provides a variety of services. These are available to anyone in the area who is affected by MS. This not only means those with the illness but also carers, family and friends.

Telford Branch have a Monthly ‘Drop In’ meeting held at the Salvation Army hall in Oakengates (adjacent to the Railway Station), on the second Thursday of every month starting at 12.30pm. The hall is fully accessible with disabled toilets and there is free parking at the back of the building. Check the diary page to see the programme for each meeting.

We work in conjunction with our Hospital, The Princess Royal which provides a range of palliative care, programmes.

MS Nurses - there are 2 professional dedicated specialist
Nurses who work for Shropshire's Neurologists:

  • Dr. Simon Nightingale (Shrewsbury)
  • Dr. Piers Newman (Telford).
The branch offers the following services (subject to availability) to all those affected by MS in the Telford area:

  • Yoga for MS
  • Physiotherapy (Gym sessions watched over by trained physiotherapist following an assessment by a neuro physiotherapist)
  • Outings & Social gatherings
  • Provision for respite care*
  • Home Adaptations*
  • Medical Equipment*
  • Branch Newsletter
*Items marked with an asterisk are provided dependant on funds and in some cases the submission of reports and requests of Occupational Therapists from the medical professions and Social Services.

It is our overriding wish to be approachable, friendly and there to lend support when required. Our committee has a very dedicated MS Support team who make visits to members and non-members alike. Above all else we respect confidentiality at all times.
