Wings over Wales

4 June 2008

People with MS in Wales can take to the skies this summer with the help of the British Disabled Flying Association.

There will be one event in North Wales and one in South Wales and at each of these events, people with MS will take to the skies with a qualified flying instructor.

MS Cymru is proud to make the skies open to all our members, so to register your interest, please contact us by email or phone: MS Cymru 02920 786676 / mscymruwales@mssociety.org.uk

Each flyer will be allocated half an hour and the estimated cost is £75-£80 per person. Date to be confirmed.

Fundraising Skydive 2006

4 June 2008

In 2006 I took part in a 10,000ft skydive to raise funds for the MS Society.

For those who haven't seen the video here it is in full, glorious technicolour.

I am planning another jump in the near future and I'm recruiting anyone who wants an exhilarating experience, especially those who have MS and are up for a challenge.

Please contact Ian Williams on 01495 757791 if you are interested.

Incidentally the addition of this video is a first for branch websites!

Newport Transporter Bridge Zip-slide and Abseil

Image of the Transporter Bridge in Newport 10 May 2008

The Bridge Bandits - Daredevils with MS

On the weekend of the 12th and 13th July 2008 a group of friends are taking part in a 300m Zip-slide and 53m Abseil from the top of the famous ‘Transporter Bridge’ in Newport.

The purpose of these daredevil antics is to raise money for MS Cymru/Wales, a charity that is very close to the hearts of all the participants. The majority of which have Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and they are supported by relatives of people with MS.

Please show your support by sponsoring us either in person or follow the link below and visit our online fundraising page.

There are still places left if you want to take part, please call the branch if you are interested. Go on, you know you want to.

Branch Transport policy

15 April 2008

Some of you will know that the Branch has been working on a Branch transport policy.

Even though there is still work to do on it, the committee wanted to publicise what’s been decided as soon as possible, so here it is:

Branch Transport Policy

Transport for people to attend meetings

1 As we do not have our own bus, we will assist people a) in using community transport, or b) arrange transport for them using volunteer drivers.

2. Individuals will be asked to meet the first £2 of a return journey using either of these two means (or, in exceptional circumstances, taxi) and the branch would pay the rest

3. The scheme will be monitored closely and adjusted according to circumstances.

4. People are of course free to make their own private arrangements, for which the branch has no responsibility.

There are still things to do, especially with regard to volunteer drivers, and we need to research branch needs further. Stay tuned!

Monthly meeting schedule

13 March 2008

We are delighted to have confirmed our social meeting guests for most of 2008. Please check Branch Events for further details.
