Message from branch chair

29 December 2008

Chair Linda MaCallum-Stewart welcomes all national members newly-affiliated to the branch in the December 08 branch newsletter.

She writes, "Our lack of volunteers has meant that our activities have been quite limited: there is no Christmas lunch this year because we have been unable to find anyone willing to co-ordinate it. We currently have advertisements out for a deputy chairman, a secretary, fundraisers and a volunteer co-ordinator." Job descriptions for all these volunteer posts are available - do phone the branch number 01273 591955 for more details.

Linda walked the Beachy Head Marathon in October and raised £1,000 for branch funds.

Shrinking the Monster

29 December 2008

Sue Partington attended a Surrey and Sussex regional information day in Crawley where the guest speaker was consultant neuropsychologist Jo Johnson. Jo asks us to visualise MS as a personal 'monster' and think about what its characteristics might be, how it affects our lives and finally come up with a 'revenge plan' to 'shrink the monster'. Her 'Shrinking the Monster' workbook will be available from the MS Society but meanwhile can be downloaded in sections from the MS Trust website.
