For applicants requiring work permits

There are a number of criteria which must be met before a work permit can be issued and there are also a number of different categories of permit.

In general, Work Permits (UK) must be satisfied that it is essential to recruit the overseas national for the position in question and that there is no suitable and available person settled in the UK or European Economic Area (EEA) who could fill the post (or could do so with appropriate additional training).

Permits are usually only issued for posts at a reasonably senior level or for those requiring specialised or rare skills, although there are some categories which allow for transfers of lower levels of staff in certain circumstances.

For this reason, whilst the MS Society will always consider all job applications on their individual merits, the likelihood that a work permit will (or will not) be granted will be a relevant factor to be considered in the recruitment decision-making process in relation to any applicant who does not already have permission to take up employment with the MS Society.
