More about Stuart Nixon
Living with MS for 25 years; volunteering for 10 years at branch, regional and MS Cymru level; the role of vice chair of the Advisory Board for Social Care; and member of the Research Network and the Helpline, have all helped Stuart develop an understanding of the issues faced by people with and affected by MS. This understanding, informed by time and listening to others, brings a broad perspective as vice chair to the Board of Trustees.
As a nurse, and now NHS manager, Stuart also brings to the board a clear understanding of health and social care issues in England and Wales. These are essential skills in addressing the Society's challenge of devolution, on national and regional levels.
As the Society's research commitment increases, Stuart believes that we must maintain and increase the quality and breadth of work supported. Stuart's involvement in and commitment to research will inform this.
The increased number of children/young adults with MS brings challenges to which the Society must respond. Diagnosis in Stuart's teens offers a personal perspective in these debates.
Stuart firmly believes a Trustee is an ambassador for the Society and MS community in general. Stuart's commitment is to take the voice of the Society and the MS Community forward in all situations.
