More about Paul Pavia
Paul was born and brought up in Cardiff and is now living just outside Caerphilly with his fiancée, Louise. He works for a political party in the National Assembly for Wales and has been there nearly three years. Paul became involved in MS Cymru because his father has MS.
Paul feels that it has been a privilege to serve MS Cymru as a council member over the last two years. He now wants the opportunity to build on that and play a greater role in raising awareness of people with and affected by MS in Wales on a UK level; supporting and developing the role of MS Cymru and the Society as a whole.
As a Council member Paul has been involved with the council’s strategic planning, financial monitoring, fundraising and awareness activities and the development of its executive team and resources. In doing so, Paul has worked with a wide range of individuals and organisations to promote the work of the MS Society in Wales. The most important lesson Paul has learnt in developing these skills is that excellent communication is vital.
Working within the Welsh political sphere, Paul has developed first-class communication skills which will ensure the thoughts and views of Wales are expressed clearly at a UK level. Moreover, within the political arena, Paul has built strong relationships with individuals and organisations across the country. These contacts will prove invaluable to the board for lobbying and campaigning senior political and organisational figures UK-wide.
The voluntary sector in the UK is changing rapidly. Paul has an in-depth understanding of the challenges the voluntary sector faces and can bring innovative solutions to aid the strategic development of the MS Society over the coming years.
