More about Carolyn Heaney
The clear objective for health and care services is for innovative and personalised support and treatment, leading to improved experience and outcomes for people’s health and well-being. This provides huge opportunities for care and support for people with MS.
Among the biggest challenges for the Society is to ensure people with MS get their fair share of the benefits from this shift in how public services are provided in future. We need services more tailored to individual needs, that support us to live actively and independently as long as possible. Carolyn was diagnosed with MS in 2004.
19 years working at the Department of Health gives Carolyn sound understanding of priorities within government, and the opportunities they represent. A lot of experience of working with others across government, the public and third sectors, gives Carolyn strong insight into the challenges for organisations campaigning on behalf of people who use their services.
Carolyn feels privileged to contribute that knowledge as a Trustee of the MS Society, bringing a strong personal commitment to the values of public service, and ongoing improvement of health and social care services, along with the ability to develop innovative ideas and strategies through objective and focused strategic thinking.
