What does it take to be a board member?

Those entrusted with the governance of the Society must have the ability and experience necessary to fulfil the roles effectively.

Although it is desirable that a majority of Trustees should be people personally affected by MS, the Board as a whole should include people who reflect the diversity of the wider community in which we live.

The roles are vital to the effective governance of the Society and, although a considerable commitment, it can be immensely rewarding on a personal level.

The MS Society: Governed by People affected by MS

The Society is governed by a voluntary board of trustees. Most of them are people who have direct experience of living with MS, either because they have MS themselves, or because someone close to them does.

They are responsible for the Society's strategy and policies and, ultimately, for everything the Society does on behalf of people affected by MS.
