The MS Society’s board has 15 trustees including a chair, vice-chair and treasurer. Most trustees either have MS, or someone close to them does. All trustees are volunteers and do not receive payment.

The board is responsible for the overall governance of the MS Society, for setting our strategic direction and making sure we meet our objectives.

The Board has 15 members, the majority of whom are elected by our members at the annual general meeting. Some may be recruited for their specific skills or experience.

Meet the trustees

Electing trustees

Members of the MS Society elect trustees at our annual AGM. They are appointed for a term of three years and generally cannot serve for more than two consecutive terms.

Trustees elect a Chairperson for a five-year term of office.

All our trustees are recruited for their skills or experience, in order to help the Society run effectively. The MS Society is a multi-million pound not-for- profit organisation, so it needs people with a wide range of skills and experience of business, MS and other areas to succeed.

Board meetings

The board normally meets five times a year (though they may meet more often if necessary), and any member of the MS Society can attend a board meeting if they book in advance - contact us for details.

Become a Trustee

Every spring, members from across the MS Society are invited to apply as a candidate by completing an application pack. Successful applicants will be interviewed and put forward for election by members

If you are interested in standing for election to our Board of Trustees please email us at governance@mssociety.org.uk or phone 020 8827 0470.
