Jim Cameron Introduction
Jim lost some of his eyesight through MS in 2000. He didn't let this stop him drawing cartoons and more recently has got back into painting and drawing.
'My right eye went foggy about 4 years ago, along with pins & needles in both hands (which have subsided a lot) just as I was starting a wee diary comic and though I thought I'd be stuck doing cartoons. I've recently started getting back to observational drawing (it just takes longer than it used to).
The cartoon panel is from, 'Shy One Horse', a western I draw, the hand a study After Durer (as my old art teacher used to say, 'you don't copy things, you study them'), and the page is the first diary page I did back in '96.
For my sins I've had to go part-time at work in a shop, but I'm hoping to get back into painting professionally the rest of the time, which in itself hasn't been effected much except for getting out there and doing it in-situ (it's an effort to get back up and when you don't drive and are in the middle of nowhere it can be a long trek).' - Jim
