Need help using the discussion boards?

The discussion board system is simple to use. However there are a number of common problems that can affect people using the boards

Discussion Board Guidelines


  1. Repeated posts are not allowed; they clutter the message boards and provide annoyance to its users.

  2. Posting URL's to websites other than MS Society pages is not allowed. However we are always keen to know about informative and useful websites about MS. Please email the web team (email: webteam@mssociety.org.ukor use the contact form. We will check out any submissions of url's and may feature them on site if appropriate. We do not guarantee a url will be featured and reserve the right not to feature a site or send feedback.

  3. Email addresses in posts are not allowed. If you would like someone to email you, please refer them to your username that appears at the top of your posting if the post is not anonymous and then put your username in your profile.

  4. Email addresses for MS Society staff and colleagues are allowed in posts.

  5. Copying and pasting copyrighted material in a post is not allowed. To share copyrighted material ask people to email you to obtain the information.

  6. Posting telephone numbers other than numbers listed within the MS Society website is prohibited.

  7. Do not post advertisements for products or services for sale.

  8. The use of the message boards by for gathering information for non-MS Society surveys and research studies is prohibited unless prior permission has been given by the MS Society (email us using our contact form).

  9. Discrimination or prejudice will not be tolerated. Do not post prejudicial statements, comments or remarks in posts on the boards.

  10. Harassment and profanity are not allowed.

  11. Pornographic material and/or references to it is not allowed in posts.

  12. Any banning of a visitor from anywhere within the MS Society website by any moderator is binding and the decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into nor will the MS Society be obliged to explain such banning

  13. Any person can be banned by any moderator for messaging comments that are not constructive to the overall purpose and mission of the MS Society or create a distraction to that purpose and mission.

  14. Your username will not be viewable to others if you select to post anonymously. If you email someone, when they receive your email, your email address will be viewable to them.

  15. Our Message boards are an open format and all posts will appear to the public, they are also indexed by Google. You must register with the board if you wish to post your own messages or view other posters' profiles.
  16. If a post disregards the MS Society Message Board guidelines it will be deleted and the user responsible may be banned.


Message Board Privacy Policy
The purpose of our boards is to provide a safe forum for people affected by MS to share ideas and help each other cope with the challenges of living with Multiple Sclerosis.

Our Privacy Policy:
We do not collect any personal information about you, unless you choose to provide it. We will never share this information with a third party, or advertiser nor do we acquire information via cookies. When you link to other organisations via our website, you then are subject to the rules and privacy laws of that organisations site.
