Nige's year
This is my story about how after diagnosis in 1986 and after all the usual traumatic emotions I got on with living.
Nige.
10 years went by
Nothing too bad happened, then in the last 6 I was Diagnosed Secondary Progressive, still living, getting on as you do and still holding a job down crossing each obstacle as it comes , It's that 3 steps down and 2 steps up thing, dealing with it as we do. Feel the Fear. You know what I mean!
The not so good year
Which brings me on to 2002/3.That not so good year. Had one of those stupid trips, reached out with my left hand to save myself and fractured it, 12 weeks in plaster.
Walk with dog, Amber!
Hand repaired, this walking thing is too dangerous for me, so off I go again this time on my brand new 4 wheel scooter with 2 speed function. Now with my new found independence only the top speed will do for me, I decide to take my dog Amber out for a run, she adjusts to the pace and is very accomodating, running beside me as we cross roads, bump kerbs and aviod pot holes, we move together so gracefully almost as one, her lead hanging loose but attatched to my wrist. Then with just one second of loss of concentration a signpost in the middle of the pavement, dog to the left me to the right. Result Amber one, Nige nil. Stitches over my left eye and cuts and grazes to my hands, guess what, not a scratch on the scooter though.
